Privacy policy

This policy explains what Gift Gofer collects and why. We keep it short because we keep our data small.

What we collect

• Your email address, if you sign in. We use it to send you a sign-in link and, only if you tick the box, gift reminder emails.
• Details about the people you save: a first name or nickname, their relationship to you, an approximate age band, interests chosen from our list, a birthday (day and month only) and any other occasion dates you add, plus a short optional note. We ask for the minimum needed to suggest gifts and remind you in time. We rely on our legitimate interest in providing the reminder service you asked for; we never contact the people you save, and we never use their details for anything else.
• Gift finder answers, which are stored with your session so we can show your results and improve suggestions.
• Clicks on product links, recorded with a random reference so we can see which gifts people find useful and match commission to the click. No personal data is sent to shops.
• Analytics cookies, only if you accept them in the banner.

Reminder emails

We only send gift reminder emails if you have ticked the box asking for them. Every email has one-click links to pause or stop reminders for a person, to tell us someone has passed away, or to unsubscribe from all reminders. We record when you gave or withdrew consent.

Keeping and deleting data

You can remove any saved person, or your whole account, from the My People page. We delete accounts that haven't been used for three years. To ask for a copy of your data or have it deleted, email us at the address on the contact page.

Who we share data with

Our email provider (to send the emails you asked for) and our hosting provider. Nobody else.
