Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located in the Priorat wine region of Spanish Catalonia, Clos Erasmus is a prestigious winery founded by Daphne Glorian. The estate is renowned for the exceptional quality of its wines, crafted using artisanal methods and a sustainable approach in the vineyard. Clos Erasmus is the estate's flagship wine, a blend of Grenache and Syrah. The grapes come from three organically farmed vineyards (Escales, Aubagues, and Socarrats) situated on steep, sun-exposed slopes at altitudes ranging from 375 to 450 meters above sea level. The vines, aged between 25 and 36 years, are rooted in schist soils. After harvest, the grapes are vinified separately in oak vats. The wine then ages in French oak barriques until the final blending. Production is limited to just a few thousand bottles. On the nose, the wine reveals an intense, complex bouquet featuring notes of dark fruit, sour cherry, and cassis, interspersed with hints of Mediterranean herbs and licorice. On the palate, it is rich and concentrated, smooth and deep. It is full-bodied with a refreshing, balanced acidity. The tannins are firm and well-integrated, leading to a long, warm finish. Try it with grilled pork spare ribs or spicy sausages.
