Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Founded in 2004 by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, Bodega Chacra is located in the Río Negro region of Argentine Patagonia. The renowned wine entrepreneur had discovered the region's potential shortly before, after tasting a local Pinot Noir at a tasting event in New York. In this area of extreme conditions, the vines benefit from unique soil and climate characteristics that are ideal for producing wines of exceptional quality. The Pinot Noir grapes come from a small, 1.5-hectare vineyard located in the central part of the valley. The vineyard had lain uncultivated for many years and was only recently brought back to life. Here, these very old, ungrafted vines draw nutrients from a soil composed of limestone, sand, pebbles, and clay. Following a morning harvest and whole-cluster fermentation, the finished wine ages half in used oak barrels and the other half in concrete tanks. On the nose, Lunita reveals a broad, intense aromatic profile featuring notes of cherry and ripe dark fruit, alternating with floral and saline nuances. The palate is soft, rich, generous, and layered, boasting excellent fruit concentration balanced by a lively, refreshing streak of acidity. The tannins are smooth, leading to a long, delicate finish. It pairs beautifully with crispy pork belly, mushroom escalopes, or roast duck breast.
